I'm trying to make sense from the commit message ('pre requirement to
support 4k resolutions') and Bjorn using 4k monitor w/o this patch.
Also I'm trying to understand, when should it be used and which imact
will it have.

I clearly see changes in the way e.g. active_v_end is calculated. You

msm8998 is on the way. Hopefully it can be merged in this cycle. I don't
think DP has been tested with this platform, however we should not make
it overcomplicated. Compare this with the DPU driver, which has
capabilities for optional features even if the hardware baseline
supports all of them.
