This is after I included the patch to the latest 4.15 kernel, 4.15.5 (4.15.5-1-MANJARO) In journalctl I find the following phenomenon. After I woke the screen up and I get the intermittent soft lockup issue, the error "dc_stream_state is NULL for crtc '1'" is written multiple times from either dm_vblank_get_counter or dm_crtc_get_scanoutpos every 8 or 18 seconds, which seemed to correspond to the lockup interval. I did not test the issue further as the system was almost unusable due to the lockup and I had to reboot.
