Mesa 18.2.2 on Ubuntu 18.10 (cosmic) still needs manually patching. And upstream version 19 still excludes this fix. btw: I can confirm this bug is still present in Ubuntu 18.10 and the fix from [1] works fine. Without the fix xcom crashes right after the intro, after applying the patch I can play the game.
