xdg-app for MOSS

Hi all,

So, as Mozilla is starting with a program called MOSS[1] very soon with an
initial allocation of $1 million. There are two categories for which it
would be accepting projects. First one would be for projects that Mozilla
relies on, and the second one is on projects/technologies that Mozilla can
use in future with particular focus on providing security[2].

xdg-app seems to be a very good fit in the second category, and we can make
Mozilla fund xdg-app with strong arguments showing how important xdg-app
could be to Mozilla. There are many problems that Mozilla users face
currently that could be solved with sandboxing. For example, firefox
extensions, that could do anything what firefox could do. No user would
like that. A sandboxed firefox is what anyone with a bit of security
concerns would prefer.

There are, indeed, many other arguments we can make for xdg-app, as one of
the potential project in MOSS. Feel free to use this thread to brainstorm
how xdg-app could help Mozilla, and we could be one of the projects,
probably most important, in [2].
