Oh wow, I didn't realize that. I just got that from what I saw other
packages doing. Is there a description of that change anywhere?

Please don't use the "appdata" path anymore, it's deprecated (and I
actually hope to fully remove it at some point in the far, far
future).
The path ${FLATPAK_DEST}/share/metainfo is the more modern place where
these files should go.
