I understand how Flatpak shares its dependencies. The question was
really about the need for entire Gnome platform, which GIMP obviously
doesn't need. I did a comparison on installing GIMP with snap; it did
pull in some Gnome dependencies, but just the ones that GIMP required.
Personally I prefer the Flatpak system - everything just seems cleaner.
But how should I explain this to a new user that freaked out over
seeing 2 GB required for GIMP 2.10 when 2.8 was less than 62 MB?
