Debian 8 'jessie' (released in 2015) is no longer supported by Debian
core teams, and its backports repository was deactivated in June 2018. It
continues to receive security updates from the Debian LTS subproject,
but the LTS team does not have the resources to cover backports of newer
packages like Flatpak. Please upgrade to Debian 10 'buster' or Debian 9
'stretch' if possible.

Debian 10 'buster' (released in 2019) has flatpak 1.2.x in the main
OS. Backports (of version 1.4.x or later) are not yet provided, but
might become available via buster-backports at a later date if they
become necessary. This is the current stable version of Debian and is
recommended. It is expected to remain fully supported until approximately
2022.

Debian 9 'stretch' (released in 2017) has flatpak 0.8.x in the main OS,
with backports of 1.2.x available via stretch-backports until its full
support lifetime ends in mid 2020.
