need help with using the Portals

Hi,

i'm trying to use the Portals to gain access to a specific device using this:


org.freedesktop.portal.Device — Portal for device access

Methods

AccessDevice<http://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/portal-api-reference.html#gdbus-method-org-freedesktop-portal-Device.AccessDevice> (IN  u     pid,
              IN  as    devices,
              IN  a{sv} options,
              OUT o     handle);


however, after reading  a lot of info online, i still couldn't figure out how to exactly do it.  It looks like i need to install front end xdg-desktop-portal and backend xdg-desktop-portal-kde.

And front end to be installed outside sandbox?   backend inside sandbox?

I tried to install xdg-desktop-portal on my ubuntu 1804 and it complained about dependency problem.

Has anybody tried this? and maybe can shed some light for me?

Making the code changes to actually use the Portals seem so far-fetched for me now.  I think i need help first on how to install all the packages needed.

If anyone has done this and can share your experience, it'll be very much appreciated.
