Problems with git ?

On Linux Mint 20 
trying to build the Evolution flatpak base on  the directions here:  
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution/Flatpak

I'm running into the following error

   flatpak-builder --force-clean org.gnome.Evolution-stable
   org.gnome.Evolution-stable.json
   Downloading sources
   Fetching full git repo https://git.code.sf.net/p/bogofilter/git
fatal: ambiguous argument 'master': unknown revision or path not in
the working tree.

Is this related to the github change away from master/slave
terminology?

If so,  how do I fix it?
