Garbage after app crash

Kernel: 5.4.0-72-generic x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: MATE 1.22.2
Distro: Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia
Flatpak: 1.10.2
Evolution: 3.40.1 (flatpak gitc7adee9)

Running Evolution in the aforementioned environment.

Evolution throws the following error

   GLib-Net:ERROR:../tls/base/gtlsconnection-
   base.c:1394:g_tls_connection_base_handshake_thread_verify_certificate: assertion
   failed: (priv->handshake_context)
   Bail out! GLib-Net:ERROR:../tls/base/gtlsconnection-
   base.c:1394:g_tls_connection_base_handshake_thread_verify_certificate: assertion
   failed: (priv->handshake_context)
   /app/bin/evolution: line 33:    44 Aborted                 (core dumped)
   /app/bin/evolution.bin "$@"

That typically leaves me with 1 or more instances of the following type

   Instance  PID  Application         Runtime
   706190006 6277 org.gnome.Evolution org.gnome.Platform

And some number of

   6277     1  0 11:47 pts/4    00:00:00 /usr/libexec/flatpak-bwrap --args 39
   evolution
   6281     1  0 11:47 pts/4    00:00:00 /usr/libexec/flatpak-bwrap --args 39
   /usr/libexec/flatpak-dbus-proxy --args=41
   6285  6277  0 11:47 pts/4    00:00:00 /usr/libexec/flatpak-bwrap --args 39
   evolution

The above is a freshly started flatpak version of Evolution. The 2 with a parent
process id of 1 are NOT killable even by root with a kill -9.

Upon death of Evolution, it is a crap shoot, as to whether a flatpak kill <arg>
will allow me to restart or not. Typical day, I get 3-5 Evolution crashes, of
which 1-2 require a complete reboot to clear out the flatpak-bwrap processes to
be able to restart Evolution.

Any ideas, tips or tricks for dealing with this situation?
