How to push config files in /etc?

Hello,
some applications are reading config files in /etc, one example is Firefox
which can read default preferences from the system wide folder /etc/firefox
. I tried to use flatpak override --filesystem=/etc/firefox but I then
discovered that /etc override is not allow, among other folders and so I
cannot push it. Source:
https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/sandbox-permissions.html
Is there a way this can be done? Is it possible to unblock /etc and allow
overrides for it?
Thank you.
Kind regards.
