Humm.  For me, SFNSDisplay.ttf was causing it.  I have had copied it into
~/.fonts to debug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101159

But what we thought was causing that bug did not exist in 2.11.0.  Baffled.  I
also wonder if some of the "update storm that freezes desktop" issue is similar
to this: creating invalid cache file...
