Hello,
I am trying to manually install gnome2.2 following the guide
at http://www.karubik.de/gig/.
I have had a lot of trouble installing gtk (the fourth
package in the list), but it finally compiled after
installing fontconfig and friends. I thought everything was
going well after all when I started getting the following
error everytime I try to open an application compiled
against gnome 2:
** ERROR **: Failed to match any font. This could be due to
a broken Xft configuration, or if you run XFree 4.1.0 due to
a bug in libXrender. For more information about this, read
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68030
aborting...
Aborted
I have read somewhere on the net that it could be fixed by
doing:
fc-cache -f
but I can+t do that either: I get:
fc-cache: relocation error: /usr/local/lib/libfontconfig.so.1:
undefined symbol: FT_Get_PS_Font_Info
And I get stuck. I don't have the slightest idea what is
going wrong... Does anybody know how I can get out of this?
In case it helps, I am usign mandrake 8.2, kernel 2.4.18.
Regards.
Rowan
