[Fontconfig] Anything to do with fontconfig

Fedora Core 2
(upgrade from RH8)
Gnome 2.6.0
Kernel 2.6.8-1
fontconfig-2.2.1-10

Each time evoking 'gedit' on terminal following
warnings popup;

$ gedit

gedit started.  

Is there anything to do with fontconfig?  Kindly
advise how to fix this problem.  TIA
