[Fontconfig] (no subject)

Dear all

While trying to install fontconfig-2.2.1 (./configure) I get the
following error:

configure: error: You must have freetype installed; see http://www.freetype.org/

So I installed freetype locally to ~/freebin and set my PATH to
~/freebin/bin and LD_LIBRARY_PATH to ~/freebin/lib. After a
recompilation of fonconfig I get the same error.

Can anybody tell me what else I have to do to have fontconfig installed?
