[Fontconfig] Undefined symbol in libfreetype.a

Dear all,
 I am installing freetype-2.1.10 on my redhat linux system. The installation
is successful.
 But when i do nm libfreetype.so | grep 'ssh_z_inflate' to check the symbol
defination, it says the symbols are undefined. Why is it happening?
 And how to define these symbols. Do I need to patch it with some file?
 Hope to recieve quick replies.
