[fprint] Validity Sensors VFS471

i have an HP Elitebook 8460p which contains the VFS471 fingerprint scanner
( 138a:003c ). i could not find this device in the supported devices list
or the unsupported list.

 it seems to be unsupported at the moment but it seems possible to develop
a driver for it. there does exist a very old proprietary driver and a patch
to fprint to support this proprietary driver, but unfortunately the
proprietary driver does not work on up to date linux systems.

is there any open source driver being developed for this device? if so, how
can i help?
