it has come to my attention that thumbnails are a greater issue that I  
thought [^1] ; it now seems obvious to me that ID3 tags (or something  
similar) COULD and SHOULD be used for general purpose metadata, and  
MUST NOT be limited to mp3 files.


Since this message is targeted to at least 3 audiences (Freedesktop,  
ID3 and Gnome people), I suggest creating a new mailing list or,  
preferably, use ID3's list if ID3 is deemed suitable for this purpose.
