gypsy stop

(apologies not exactly a geoclue question but some of you may well know as same domain)

A basic question;  if one has called gypsy_device_start() to start GPS device, should one also call gypsy_device_stop()?
The doubt I have is that I do not wish to really stop() the device if there is any other app using it, but more like 'unreference' it.
