+Moving the .pc files into a subdirectory tricks pkgconfig into using the
+new pkgconfig/ subdir as the root for all the things like include and
+library paths in the uninstalled case.  Easy fix may be to add ../ to the
+paths in the uninstalled .pc files, otherwise something more drastic may be
+necessary, not sure what.
