Even if those URIs aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing, I wouldn't consider
them a gross _hack_, more a gross convention. Connecting to notify::source is
equally sucky and requires apps to keep the device string around instead of
doing a simple set'n'forget.

I like the MPlayer way as well.
