GStreamer | gst-plugins-ugly | Ver: HEAD CVS
Summary: [a52dec] Select output format based on peer element caps
Product: GStreamer
Version: HEAD CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: Normal
Component: gst-plugins-ugly
AssignedTo: gstreamer-bugs at lists.sourceforge.net
ReportedBy: michal.benes at itonis.tv
QAContact: gstreamer-bugs at lists.sourceforge.net
GNOME version: Unspecified
GNOME milestone: Unspecified
This patch will select output format (number of channels) based on user
preferences (set by properties) or peer element capabilities.
The rationale for this patch is that liba52 can do better downmixing based on
a52 hinting than any standalone audioconvert plugin.
Without this patch, 5.1 audio (DVD source) converted to 2-channel (by
audioconvert) sounded audible more silent than it should be.
