I think this has already been fixed in gst-plugins-good CVS by this commit:

 2007-03-01  Zaheer Abbas Merali  <zaheerabbas at merali dot org>

        * sys/ximage/gstximagesrc.c: (gst_ximage_src_open_display):
        Error out correctly when getting xcontext fails.
