The resampler in GStreamer has for a long time been considered to be of low
quality. When researching another issue I came accross this email today on the
libalsa mailing list:

It talks about new BSD licensed resampling code giving output of similar
quality to libsamplerate. Could be a good starting point for a new GStreamer
plugin maybe.
