Maybe the test is using the installed gstreamer copy for some reason rather
than the newly-compiled local one?

What's the output if you do:

 $ cd /tmp/gstreamer-0.10.11/tests/check
 $ GST_DEBUG=*:3 make gst/gsttag.check 2>&1 | head -n 1

?
