When running the pipeline now with the latest versions of everything one gets 

LC_ALL=C gst-launch-0.10 alsasrc ! alsasink
Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
Pipeline is live and does not need PREROLL ...
Setting pipeline to PLAYING ...
New clock: audioclock0
