the iface is indeed a bit too much. What about adding this to
GstElementDetails?

there could be
GST_ELEMENT_DETAILS_WITH_APIDOCS(longname,klass,description,author,element_name)
that also sets the sets the uri to
"file://"DATADIR""G_DIR_SEPARATOR_S"gtk-doc"G_DIR_SEPARATOR_S"html"G_DIR_SEPARATOR_S""PACKAGE""G_DIR_SEPARATOR_S""PACKAGE"-%s.html",
element_name
