@Brendan,

the versions are in the file examples. I will add code tonight that uses the
plugin version if it can. Meta data is there too. One example can be a comment,
another example could be the use of keywords (e.g. Codecs: LQFast, HQSlow;
Sounds: Pad, Effect, Bass).

The format won't we a binary one as this would not be platform independent.

I agree that we need to think about how to receive preset contrbutions from
users and how to merge them.
