The patch in a single file

This is the otherwise unmodified patch, but in a single file which is easier to
apply (tested against cvs today May 3rd 2007). It seems to work fine for me
with a Canopus ADVC55 but not with an ADVC700 for which "Default" is always
returned. I don't know if this is a limitation of the ADVC700 or a problem with
the code, which I haven't even read.
