Please describe the problem:
This is continuation of bug #564019, which I started to overuse for other
purposes from the original analog LFE downmix problem.

I'm using Asus P5B-VM motherboard with SPDIF connected from the motherboard
with Asus accessory. The problem is that when using GStreamer, the only place I
get sound from is gstreamer-properties Test button. I've selected there the
Digital choice out of the two possible options.

Like stated, I hear nothing when using Rhythmbox or Totem (-gstreamer). Using
MPlayer, Xine, etc. works fine.

Please see 564019's attachment called "Log from digital output" for the
situation where I can hear nothing in Totem. Another bug is #331875 which
prevents from using Pass-through in Totem with the GStreamer backend, but it
shouldn't matter since I hear sound with the Xine backend using any speaker
selection.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Use digital output of Asus P5B-VM motherboard SPDIF
2. Start up any GStreamer-using program

Actual results:
Silence

Expected results:
Sound

Does this happen every time?
Yes
