Yes :-(

Interestingly, when I tried linking the system-wide ffplay against the
gst-ffmpeg's internal ffmpeg from gst-ffmpeg-0.10.3.2.tar.bz2:

$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=libavdevice:libavutil:libavformat:libavcodec:libpostproc
/usr/bin/ffplay samplevideo.m2ts

then it works fine.  So it doesn't seem to be a problem with ffmpeg.
