So what's the current state of this bug? We still want a fancy SMIL plugin in
GStreamer that does magic to support all the SMIL features? Is someone working
on this or planning to work on this?

I agree that if the attached plugin only handles it like a simple playlist,
that it's not really useful yet. Also we need some kind of generic playlist
interface in GStreamer first for this to be useful by itself ;)
