Here's a question. Let's say you put those registry files in your
.gstreamer-0.10 folder, and they prevent you from playing back H.264 and the
like. Shouldn't those files be automatically overwritten by a clean and
uncorrupt registry by gstreamer? How can they just sit there on my disk and
require deletion, rather than update themselves?

Also, maybe it doesn't update when you install gst-ffmpeg and ffmpeg?
