------- Comment #6 from Brian 2009-07-08 05:12 UTC -------
I think I understand a bit of what's going on here.
1) I'm using a slot-loading iMac G3 (model M5521) from 2000, I believe. It's
running Xubuntu 9.04.
2) As you suggest, it may not be a sound problem at all. I am having video
problems with this machine as well (it can only display 8-bit color) although
it is using 1024x768, the recommended screen resolution for this iMac.
When I use xvinfo, I receive the following:
screen #0
no adaptors present
lspci yields:
0000:00:10.0 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 PR/PRO AGP 4x
TMDS
and in my X11 logs, it seems like it's using the "fbdev" driver.
3) I tried "Listen Music Player 0.5" to play similar files and have been able
to successfully play MP3's, at least.
4) I disabled the visualizations in Totem, and it plays MP3's fine now. That,
at least, is useful. I'm not sure how to "set ximagesink in
gstreamer-properties" as you mentioned.
5) It's not all that important, but is there a proper way I can view the log
that I posted in a readable format? It seemed to be binary garbage to me.
6) I assume that my remaining video issues would not fall in the realm of this
bug report, but should the issues I've been having (with the 8-bit color
limitation of the "driver" being used) be appropriate for some other bug or is
this an issue for UbuntuForums?
Thanks for the help.
