I can reproduce the behaviour with:
filesrc ! avidemux ! mp3parse ! mad ! alsasink

But the 'choppyness' disappears if:
* I remove mp3parse or
* I set alsasink sync=False.

I'm guessing it's a mp3parse bug then ?
