This is no special casing. Having a volume slider that has a linear mapping
between the linear factor an the pixels is *always* a bad idea.

That simple fact has nothing to with PA. Nothing at all.

If you present a volume slider on screen you should be using cubic mapping (or
something similar). Regardless which backend you have.
