I agree on 'byte-stream' as it's defined as "byte stream" in the H.264 spec.
However, "avc-sample" doesn't ring any bell.

The non-bystestream format is defined in MPEG-4 part 15 [aka Advanced Video
Coding (AVC) file format], therefore I agree with Thiago's original proposal of
"avc-format".
