Sorry to hear that but why exactly do you think this was caused by GStreamer?
How and when were you using it?

(Unless there's a bug in a) your hardware, b) the kernel or c) you run a
GStreamer application as root it's absolutely impossible that it was able to
remove everything from your harddrive because only root can do that)
