The question however is still why it didn't preserve those tags.

Does id3demux deserialise them correctly into 'private' frame blobs? Does
id3v2mux pick those up? Does taglib then not parse them correctly when we feed
them to it? (maybe they're not id3v2.4 and then it fails to convert them or
something?)
