Gap behavior on upsampling

This figure shows the element's response to gaps upon upsampling.  The pink
areas are gaps.  Note that the output gaps are shrunk to preserve the filter
transients.  The input signal that I used here (pink noise) does not go to zero
at the gap boundaries, so the filter response oscillates a bit as expected.
