I had this problem on gstreamer 0.10.34 and 0.10.36, with the proposed
workaround tested on 0.10.36 only (and working there). gst-python version
0.10.22, on a Mac OS X Lion machine with glib, gstreamer etc. installed from
the Fink package manager.
