Could you provide the output of:

 gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin2
uri=smb://readynas/media/Music/Rhythmbox%20Test/Test%20Track.mp3

please ? (added the -v option)

Basically I'm wondering what element handles the smb:// protocol.
