For testing reverse playback (and seeking in reverse), you can use the playback
test in gst-plugins-base
(gst-plugins-base/tests/examples/playback/playback-test). To run a custom
pipeline:

./playback-test 1 "imagesequencesrc ... ! videoconvert ! autovideosink"

I should be able to give this a second pass soon, unless someone is faster ;-P.
A small note, when you update a patch, please mark the old one as obsolete,
helps keeping the attachment clean.
