Also, synchronized events rely on the timestamp of the following buffer, not to
mention that metas like CropMeta are only in the buffers themselves, but some
are needed for tunnelled operation anyway. I am converging to the idea that
some level of fake buffer flow will be required in any case in GStreamer 1.x. I
guess in 2.x we could add timestamps to the events themselves and move Metas
that are not really specific to each buffer (like CropMeta!) to events, but
that's far off in the future.

Slomo, Tim, Wim? Opinions?
