BTW sorry this took so long I have had the patches for a while but no time to
upload them!  Please note that the patches contain one TODO on some code that I
didn't know how to deal with and you may want to review which debug statements
are required.  I'm happy to make any changes you want.

I am also not sure if the approach is correct, but I couldn't find another way
to give exact timings for PLC.
