The patches from Sree, setting the default format to NV12, and the patches in
bug 765223, somewhat mitigates this issue.

Nonetheless, it looks hard to fix thoroughly, since we cannot before hand what
color conversion the driver can perform. We can go with a try-and-fail, but
there are combination that are directly caught by asserts in the driver
(segmentation faults).

IMO, after pushing the patches in 765223, we can close this bug since it is in
a "managable" state.
