Patch proposal

I've tested this patch in the very same VM where I reproduced the problem I
reported here with the latest stable version of gstreamer from Debian sid
(1.8.1), and verified that it fixes the problem with the shell's screen
recording use case (tested without the patch from Wim mentioned in comment #4).

Besides, it also prints the warning message in the log as suggested.
