The GLib requirement for 1.8 is GLib >= 2.40. The errors seem to imply that an
older GLib is being picked up at runtime (2.32), so this looks like an
installation/setup problem to me, nothing GStreamer related.

Perhaps you need to run 'sudo ldconfig' after installing GLib 2.40, or add the
library prefix/path where you installed it to to /etc/ld.so.conf* or so.
