gst-launch-1.0 videotestsrc  ! openjpegenc ! openjpegdec ! videoconvert !
autovideosink


work but 

gst-launch-1.0 -v videotestsrc ! openjpegenc ! openjpegdec ! autovideosink

fail ?

Why would adding videoconvert fix the problem ?
