Bug ID: 766954
Summary: General stream error or black screen on Wayland
Classification: Platform
Product: GStreamer
Version: 1.8.1
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Normal
Component: gstreamer-vaapi
Assignee: gstreamer-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: nexfwall at gmail.com
QA Contact: gstreamer-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org

GNOME version: ---
When trying to play video file in totem using this plugin, on a Wayland
session, there are either general stream error pops up or just black screen
instead of video content. If there are black screen, audio plays as usual, but
after about 15 seconds playback freezing at all.
Using VAAPI on Wayland is now possible using Mesa from git. I built one
personally on Fedora by modifying mesa spec from Rawhide. Built from commit
'2cee0d0'.
When running totem from terminal, the output does not contain any signs of
errors. VAAPI driver successfully initialises. And nothing more.
Output:
$ totem Ad\ that\ make\ me\ mad.mp4
libva info: VA-API version 0.39.0
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib64/dri/gallium_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_39
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0

Output is the same, regardless of what happens, general stream error or black
screen.
Tried to play the same video in mpv, and it was played successfully.
